New Year in Ethiopia

Ethiopia new year is celebrated in september 1st.Children wear new clothes, and go around the neighborhood singing. The girls wear dresses and carry flowers and drums with them. They knock on the door and sing for the family that opens the door. After they finish singing, they might get money or special bread. The boys paint pictures or draw pictures and give them to people. If the person is rich, they will give the boys money. If not they will give them special breads. The special breads are oval shaped and just made for one person. It is not sour or sweet. When the children do all the things Itold you about, they will sing athank you song or just say thank you.We cook Injera.Injera looks like a pancake but it is bigger than pancakes. We also have wot that goes together with the Injera.some of the wot is too spicey and some are not.Inside the wot there are too many things that I can not even describe.Wesmell flowers and have a coffee ceremony every morning.Almost every grown-up person drinks coffee. It is traditional.
